Quest for Reds

So as you all may know I'm a little bit obsessed about Red Squirrels (I promise the whole blog won't be about them!!).
As I live down South there's not many places near to get my fix of the little critters apart from the British Wildlife Centre in Surrey which has an open walkway where you can get up close and personal with them!! Eek now that's my dream come true!!

Who could resist this little cutie bounding towards you, with the look of love in his eye (ok maybe that last bit is just in my head!!)

(On reflection that maybe a her!!)

Very up close and personal with them....

This one decided my bum was the perfect vantage point to wait for the keeper and her bucket of treats!!

Just after she'd rummaged in my bag...my bag is normally full of nuts and bird seed..not lipstick and hmmm not sure of any other makeup names!!

So if like me, you love Reds but don't live anywhere near them, go check out the wildlife centre...it has a wonderful breeding programme and does some great work to educate people on these wonderful creatures.

Ooh I've started a blog!!

So it's now become apparent I lack any ideas of my own so I've jumped on the blogging bandwagon and decided to share the craziness that's in my head whilst on a mission to photograph the perfect nature shot...for those of you that know me that'll probably be a Red Squirrel!!

So to start me off I'm posting one of my  favourite Red Squirrel shots thus far in my quest (that does make it sound so exciting)

This shot was taken at Dodd Wood, Cumbria. Armed with a bag of nuts and hope in my heart, I managed to convince my other half to sit in the freezing cold in the hope that the Reds would be tempted by some hazelnuts..we were rewarded by...
To say that the appearance of this little fella made me very excited is an understatement!! It was like all my Christmases at once, like falling into Willy Wonka's chocolate river.

Here's another of him checking out the nuts...

Anyway that's my first crack at a blog, I hope you like it...check back again soon when hopefully I can think of something more to say :)
